The perfect relationship is a father and son story but with a twist. Hyukjoon is a teacher who is probably in his late forties or early fifties, it doesn’t say in the story but just a guess. Hyukjoon had a son named Eunsung but he died. So far in the story, the audience doesn’t know why or how but who. Minjae lives with Hyukjoon as his adopted son. Minjae has had a tough childhood, living in an orphanage, there isn’t info on how he got there so maybe it’ll develop as the story goes on. While in the orphanage, Minjae dealt with bullying and the director of the orphanage molesting him. One day his knight in shining armor came, Hyukjoon. He adopted him despite the director of orphanage saying he didn’t fit the criteria since he seems to single. There has been no word on Hyukjoon’s relationships such as a wife, girlfriend, partner, or anybody. In some previous flashbacks or dreams, it’s mostly just been his son and him so maybe he was single father or maybe a widower. Anyway the real reason Hykjoon adopted Minjae was because he holds him responsible for his son’s death. I’m pretty sure Minjae isn’t aware of this because he is oblivious to the father’s true feelings. He is aware that his new dad had a son and that he died so he hasn’t connected the dots or doesn’t know any info on the matter. Minjae is in love with Hyukjoon so he does things to please him like making meals and being a great student, overall being a angel around him. Hyukjoon does know how he feels somewhat because he has a camera in his bedroom also maybe the whole house….who knows, thats how he saw Minjae masturbate on his bed. Minjae does have a relationship, maybe a friend with benefits per se, his name is Taehyun. He is Minjae’s best friend in college, he is really nice and low-key adds humor into the story. He also knows how in love Minjae is with his father. Taehyun accepts this because he is so in love with Minjae.
Now both Minjae and Taehyun are student teachers at Gong Ah High School, the same school that Hyukjoon teaches at. Staff at the school are unaware that Minjae, the new student teacher is his son. I think Hyukjoon doesn’t talk about son because of what happened to actual son. Minjae now gets full-time with his dad, walking to class and having lunch together. Moments like those cause tension with Taehyun, he get jealous because of the way Minjae looks at his dad. He also walked in the lunch room when Hyukjoon was wiping off some food on Minjae’s mouth. Taehyun and Minjae then had sex in an empty classroom, after Taehyun spoke his feelings on seeing Minjae and his dad. This caused Minjae to mention that they should break up. Taehyun then gets drunk and blows up Minjae’s phone so when he doesn’t answer his phone calls or texts, he shows up at his home. They make up eventually but on Minjae’s terms. In the mist of this, Hyukjoon gets a call from Choi Sooah, a friend I assume because she knows his actual son also other teachers at the school. She also gave him Minjae’s location but she never thought he would adopt him. She also questions him on what is he doing, which his response is “I want him to lose something he cares about.” Hyukjoon is playing with fire because I don’t know if he truly knows how much in love Minjae is or going to use that to his advantage later on. There is incident at school where a teen collapses. You do see this teen in other scenes like him being bullying also he sort of recognizes Minjae but can’t remember where. The audience finds out he is also an orphan at the same orphanage Minjae was at. There was one moment where you see flashback to where you see him as kid who kind of bullied Minjae by throwing a soccer ball at him but he was forced to by older kids/teens. He makes it up by saving Minjae from being molested by the headmaster. Minjae even thanked and hugged him before leaving with Hyukjoon. Then the headmaster overheard and it seems he took Minjae’s spot after he left. We later find out this name is Han Sunho, when Minjae ignores him again! It bugs me how he continues to ignore him, granted the first time he asked, Minjae was going home. The second time was during the beginning of school and yet he goes off with Taehyun. Minjae knows his kid is dealing with abuse but he puts his dad and his needs before poor Han Sunho. Maybe he doesn’t want to deal with it since how drastic his life is now but still… he should at least mention another time or maybe a other teacher. Anyway Minjae and Taehyun have sex in an empty classroom again, I wonder how they keep getting away with this but then again it’s a story but still…Where are the other teachers?? or students?? During the sex scene, Minjae is blindfolded and has his hands restrained by a belt. Taehyun then asked Minjae if it feels like he is having sex with his dad but he doesn’t answer. One thing that made me feel bad for Taehyun was when he said ” We both want someone so bad, but neither of us can have want we want.” I think Taehyun can honestly find a better guy than Minjae who is selfish and in love with his dad. Anyway I can’t wait to see how things end up with these characters. I will say before I end this review that Hyukjoon had a dream of his real son Eunsung, who was engulfed in flames so maybe that’s a clue.
